Veteran's Day
At Wind River Elementary Sydney participated in her second Veteran's Day program. Each grade got to sing a song. Kaden and I ended up leaving after the first grade song because Kaden decided it would be funny to through his cars at the first graders.
Happy Halloween!
We hope everyone had a great Halloween.
Our Charlie Brown and Daisy attended the School Carnival, were they played games and won lots of candy. Then we took them Trick of Treating to a couple of houses here in Pavillion.
Candid Photos
Here are just some cute pictures that we took this week of our two cute kids.
Sydney had a blast getting her face and hands painted at the homecoming game.
First Snow
It started snowing on Thursday night and didn't stop until this morning (Sunday). 14 inches total is what we received. Sydney couldn't wait to make her first snow angel and Kaden just liked being out in it until his hands got cold. Saturday we made a snowman in the back yard, and took the 4 wheeler out for some good donuts in the snow. Today the snow man turned into a sled ramp.
Elk Hunt 2008
Not much of an elk huh? I was on my way back to the truck when I jumped this cougar with her two kittens... When she saw me her kittens bolted and she ran straight at me hissing and roaring... I unshouldered my gun and yelled at her, but when I yelled she leaped at me from about 10 feet away. I stepped to the side and pulled the trigger from a hip shot position. The shot hit her in the neck and came out where you can see just behind the left shoulder. I really believe that she was protecting her kittens by "attacking" the threat..... After I changed my pants, the voice of my mother kept coming to mind, "make sure you don't go by yourself".
I called it in to the game and fish department that night and took the ranger into the kill site this morning. He aged the lion at about 6 years of age and around 130 pounds (a little less than my muscular 148). He took a statement and said I did the right thing.
Logs, Logs and more Logs
This summer we have cut a lot of poles, 10 cords in all, 5 trips, but we have enjoyed every minute of it. Kaden loves collecting his own sticks and this time Sydney enjoyed finding leaves that have already started to change for fall.
A few of you have asked what the logs are for, Kiley has a log furniture class this year, and for our own creations as well.
