Chatfield Happenings

The last month or two have been busy as the end of the school year always is.  Our main goal has been to get our grass in.  Over spring break we were able to get our sprinkler System in, and a couple of weeks ago we laid sod.  It is awesome how big a difference a little grass can make.  Don't get me wrong we still have a ton of work to do.

Sydney also had her end of the year band concert.  It is fun to see how much better they get each year.  She has loved playing the trumpet and is excited for another year of band.
Sydney also had the opportunity to represent Wyoming at the National Science Olympiad Competition in Lincoln, Nebraska.  Science Olympiad is a National Science competition, first schools have to compete at the state level and each state gets to send one high school and one middle school team to represent their state.  Riverton Middle school won the state competition for Wyoming.  A team consists of 15 students and they compete in 30 different subjects, from bridge building to insect identification (entomology). She was gone for 6 days and had an awesome experience.
The Opening Ceremonies started with a parade of states.  After the parade of states they had a few speakers and a physics professor gave a physics presentation.  It is not the best picture but Sydney was picked to come up on stage and help with one of the professors experiments.

Baseball is in Full Swing

Baseball has started again and this year Kaden is on the White Sox.  He has moved up to the minors and is enjoying every minute of it.  So far he has played first and third base and can't wait to try his had at pitching.

Pine Wood Derby

Kaden participated in his first Pine Wood Derby.  He named his car the Night Glider.  It took him a week to design it, after he cut it out he spend a couple of days sanding it to be as sleek as possible.  Then we spray painted it to perfection.  He took third place in the wolf devision.  And he got the most sleekest car award.

Sydney Has Been Busy

A few weeks ago Sydney had the opportunity to go compete in State Science Olympiad.  Riverton Middle School took first so now she has the chance to go compete in Nationals, which is in Lincoln Nebraska this year. She is very excited.  She is a hard worker and loves to learn.

Track season is also in full swing.

Skiing

This last weekend we headed up to White Pines Ski resort over in Pinedale, WY.  Kaden couldn't wait to hit the slopes again for the second time.  Sydney was excited to try it for her first time, she was especially excited about riding the lift.  They both had a blast. We all had a few good wrecks except for Kiley, and we left tired and exhausted.

Christmas Break

As usual Christmas Break flew by.  We started off trying our hand at ice skating.  It was a little rough at first but eventually we started to get the hang of it.
Christmas Eve we headed out for a morning pheasant hunt. Kiley shot one and missed one.

Christmas morning finally came and Sydney and Kaden could hardly contain themselves.  They both must have been good because santa for some reason didn't skip our house.  We also woke up to a fresh blanket of snow.

The day after Christmas we headed to Cedar City.  We saw Grandparents and spent a lot of time sledding and hanging out with cousins.

Christmas Programs

Sydney and Kaden both had Christmas programs this week.  Sydney had her annual band Christmas concert.  We were excited to hear her play her solo that she had worked really hard on.

Kaden also had his winter concert.  He was a little embarrassed because of some of the dancing he had to do, but he survived.
